In 2002, the Hariri Foundation partnered with CHF and USAID to carry out a joint project aimed at improving greenhouse vegetable production in South Lebanon. The project introduced advanced greenhouse systems and new vegetable greenhouse varieties, training farmers on Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and engaging them in testing alternative methods for vegetable soil production. 3,000 individuals participated in the training and 5,000 field pocket guides were distributed for helping the farms to identify diseases with the control measures.

Farmers were also trained on proper post-harvest practices and on forming farmer cooperations. The project resulted in an 87.50% increase of tomato production, 47.50% increase of cucumber production and 20% decrease in cost of production
