Investing in Education
Hariri Foundation provided educational scholarships which aimed to safeguard Lebanon’s human capital during wartime. Scholarships were granted to 35,992 students from all Lebanese regions to pursue their undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate studies in 1,766 national and international universities and institutions across 27 countries worldwide. Scholarships included the full financial coverage of tuition fees for the programs of study, full financial coverage of tuition fees for prerequisite training on foreign language, visa and travel fair, accommodation, as well as the provision of necessary equipment to engage students in an effortless, fully-equipped learning experience. The program, valued at $1.5 billion, impacted the lives of more than 170,000 individuals including direct recipients and their families; nonetheless. Thousands of graduates from the program have ever since occupied renowned international and national roles and positions in the public sector, the private sector, and civil society, sparking breakthroughs in technological advancement, governance models, and sectoral development in Lebanon and worldwide.
