Pillars

Projects and services at Hariri Foundation are founded on four pillars which reflect its vision, mission and objectives. Those pillars are inspired from the legacy of its founders, H.E. Rafic Hariri and H.E. Bahia Hariri, in state-building and sustainable human development.

Promoting Education Transformation

Fostering a culture of innovation and creativity in education, empowering teachers and students, and improving the quality and relevance of education to meet the needs of the 21st century, providing equal opportunities for all, with a special emphasis on technical and vocational training.

Developing Active Citizenship

Empowering citizens to be active participants in the decision-making process in their communities, fostering a culture of volunteerism and promoting democratic values, and enhancing civic engagement to build strong and inclusive communities.

Facilitating Policy Dialogue

Facilitating constructive dialogue and collaboration among different stakeholders to identify and address the most pressing challenges facing Lebanese society, and promoting evidence-based policymaking that supports sustainable human development.

Building Urban Resilience

Strengthening the capacity of urban communities to cope with shocks and stresses, promoting sustainable urban development, and enhancing the resilience of cities and towns to challenges of urbanization and conflict, including environmental degradation, social exclusion, and inadequate infrastructure, through innovative solutions and community engagement.

Values

Hariri Foundation recognizes the national state and its social, environmental, economic building blocks as an adaptive complex system. With complex interconnections and relationships in mind between the different elements of the system, we seek to design programs and policies that take a holistic approach to sustainable human development.

Solidarity

Solidarity

We believe that individuals and communities can achieve more by working together to achieve common goals and support one another, and we recognize that the spirit of cooperation and solidarity is essential to achieving sustainable human development outcomes that benefit everyone.

Partnership

Equity

Human-Centered Approach

Human-Centered Approach

We believe that placing people at the center of all our programs and interventions is crucial by prioritizing their needs and perspectives and by ensuring that development interventions are responsive to the real-life circumstances and aspirations of local communities.

Localization

Localization

We believe that sustainable human development should be rooted in local communities and should be responsive to local needs, cultures, and contexts. This highlights the importance of local ownership and leadership of development processes.

Gender Equality

Gender Equality

We believe that everyone, regardless of their gender, should have equal access to resources, opportunities, and decision-making power. We seek to ensure that all our programs are gender-sensitive and that women empowerment is at the core of our work.
