In 2011, the Hariri Foundation, in collaboration with USAID, the Educational Development Center (EDC), Global Communities (formerly CHF International), International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), the American University of Beirut (AUB), and AMIDEAST, launched the D-RASATI project—Developing Rehabilitation Assistance to Schools and Teachers Improvement. This initiative aimed to enhance the quality of education in Lebanon’s public schools by focusing on physical infrastructure, educational practices, and governance.

The project conducted comprehensive assessments of 29 public schools across three major Lebanese cities, evaluating their physical conditions, educational standards, and governance structures. Based on these evaluations, targeted rehabilitation efforts were implemented to address identified needs. Simultaneously, school principals received training on quality education principles and effective practices in school governance to foster effective leadership.

In its second phase, D-RASATI expanded its scope to include the development of a National Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) Strategy, the creation of an ICT action plan for the public school system, and the training of trainers on various educational methodologies. The project also provided teachers with training on English language instruction, integrated ICT in the classroom, and the organization and delivery of extra-curricular activities.

Through these comprehensive interventions, the D-RASATI project significantly contributed to improving the learning environment in Lebanon’s public schools, enhancing the skills of educators and administrators, and fostering greater community involvement in the educational process
