Empowering Youth for the Workforce

The Hariri Foundation Vocational & Technical Training Center (HFVTC) is an officially accredited center providing free-of-charge vocational and technical training programs aligned with the needs of the local labor market. The center is registered as an official center for the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as the “Vocational and Technical Training Center for Youth.” The center offers vocational and life skills training to Lebanese youth aged 15 and above, with the aim of building their capacities and capabilities and enabling them to confidently compete in the labor market. Upon completion of a specified 3-month training period, trainees are awarded a certificate by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education that accredits their newly acquired skills and experiences. Housed in Hariri Foundation’s Hajj Bahaeddine Hariri Development Complex in Saida, Hariri Foundation employs the capacities of the training center to offer trainings for program participants and beneficiaries of other centers from all nationalities. HFVTC aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of Lebanese and refugee youth and provides complementary and optional accompaniment to ensure access to the labor market.

The center was stablished in 2016 in a collaborative effort between the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education – General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education with the support of UNDP and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Lebanon. The center was later upgraded with the support of MedCities and the Fons Català de Cooperació al Desenvolupament and Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB). Ever since, HFVTC has provided tens of specialized vocational and technical trainings in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, as well as tens of trainings in collaboration with specialized international partners such as CISCO. HFVTC aims to address the impact of the Syrian crisis on Lebanese and refugee youth by providing vocational and personal training on employability skills that match the ever-evolving labor market. Training programs offered by the center are designed based on the continuous assessment of the social reality in Saida, including trends in the local and national market and the emergent needs of the local youth.
