Year

2016 - Present

Established in 2016, the Hariri Foundation Vocational & Technical Training Center (HFVTC) was established through a collaborative effort between the Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education – General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education. The initiative received initial support from UNDP and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Lebanon. HFVTC offers free-of-charge vocational and technical training programs designed to meet the evolving needs of the local labor market, and it is officially registered with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as a vocational and technical training center.

The center provides high-quality training to Lebanese youth aged 15 and above, focusing on building their skills and competencies to enhance their competitiveness in the labor market. Upon completion of a 3-month training period, trainees are awarded a certificate by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, which formally recognizes their newly acquired skills.

HFVTC is not only a hub for training, but it also serves as a resource for the Hariri Foundation to support other programs and beneficiaries. Through these efforts, HFVTC aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of both Lebanese and refugee youth by equipping them with employability skills. The center also offers complementary support to ensure that graduates can transition successfully into the labor market.

Over time, the center has grown, with additional support from MedCities, Fons Català de Cooperació al Desenvolupament, and the Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB). These partnerships have allowed HFVTC to upgrade its facilities and expand its scope of services. The center continues to offer specialized vocational and technical training programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

In light of the Syrian crisis, HFVTC focuses on providing training programs that address the unique challenges faced by both Lebanese and refugee youth. These programs are continuously adapted based on the social realities of Saida, the local and national labor market trends, and the emerging needs of youth, ensuring that the center remains responsive to the ever-changing demands of the job market.
